Clash of Narratives
In the season finale of Clash of Narratives’ third season, two very different Russian theater directors sit down and talk about fascism, freedom of speech, and the future of their country.
In episode 2 of Truth and Theater in St. Petersburg, directors Grigoriy and Vladimir expound on their Orthodox Christian beliefs. For Vladimir, it was God’s will that Putin became Russia’s leader. For Grigoriy, the church’s ties to the government compelled him to leave the Russian Orthodoxy.
In the season premiere of Truth and Theater in St. Petersburg, directors Vladimir and Grigoriy are in the process of staging the same play about fascism, but with very different interpretations of what this word means in modern-day Russia.
